Finding My #1 Dream Job
Getting a creative job at the best of times is challenging let alone in a global pandemic but I was fortunate enough to land an opportunity working as a digital marketing intern at a small start up company in Norwich straight from graduation.
I was so thrilled to begin working a field that was closely related to my degree whilst the world was forming a new normal and I am grateful I took the opportunity when it was given to me. I learned something new every day, grew as an independent individual and was able to help manage marketing and design being hands on with important brand decisions. I made some forever friends including my partner but after a year of growing I felt like I had outgrew my desk.
I started searching for a new job that was more design related and less marketing focused and after looking aimlessly through linkedin posts I soon realised that I had some job requirements that meant I was limiting the applications appropriate for me; I did not want to work in London.
Despite doom scrolling ridiculous hours into my evenings and wondering if I was ever going to find my dream job close to home I stumbled across a company that looked like a perfect fit for me, and it was only 30 minutes from my mums house!
I applied and managed to get a second interview… but as always a design presentation was required to showcase my skillset. Stress and worry consumed my weekend as I worked hard to create exceptional branding for a theoretical event I had been pitched.
Treating the brief like any other I started with research, moved on to paper and then loaded up Illustrator. Working along the right path I created some awful logos before settling for one I was contempt with. Soon after everything else fell into place.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and it turns out the dream job thought I was the dream candidate and so did my potential landlords. In the space of a month I moved into Diss with my partner and started working for Midwich.
Nearly a year down the line and I can confidentially say I am still super excited about working for the company and what my future has to hold. The design team is such a great force to be reckoned with and the wider marketing team is like an extended family.
The projects I have worked on so far have been beyond exciting and they will be added into my portfolio in near course! Here’s to another year working for Midwich and to past Chloe who thought she would NEVER get her dream job.
You did it girl and continue to do it every day since. – Chloe
